Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the St. George Daytona Beach mobile app (“App”), provided by St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach, Florida (“St. George,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information when you use the App.

1. General App Use

You do not need to create an account or sign in to use the App. The App provides church announcements, calendar information, livestream access, notifications, church and group information, contact information, directions, and links to external church resources.

2. Information We May Process

Depending on the features you choose to use, the App may process:

• Notification information. If you enable push notifications, a push-notification registration token and related technical identifiers may be processed so notifications can be delivered to your device.
• Security and technical information. Firebase App Check and related services may process app, device, and attestation information needed to verify legitimate App requests, protect the service, prevent abuse, and maintain security.
• Local app preferences. Certain preferences and app status information, such as notification settings, may be stored locally on your device.

3. Donations and External Websites

The App does not process donations or payment information within the App. If you tap the Donate button, you will be directed to the St. George Coptic Orthodox Church website outside the App.

Any donation information, payment information, donor information, or other information you provide after leaving the App is handled by the church website and the applicable external payment provider. Those services operate separately from the App, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.

4. How We Use Information

Information processed through the App may be used to:

• provide and operate App features;
• send church notifications that you have chosen to receive;
• protect the App and backend services from abuse and unauthorized use;
• troubleshoot technical issues and maintain the reliability of the App; and
• maintain the security and functionality of the App.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

The App relies on third-party services that may process limited technical information according to their own privacy practices. These services may include Apple, Google Firebase, and YouTube.

Firebase is used for backend services, Firebase App Check, Firestore, and push notifications. YouTube may be used to provide access to church livestream content.

When you follow a link from the App to an external website or service, including the church donation website, that website or service operates separately from the App and its own terms and privacy policy apply.

6. Sharing and Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information from the App for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Information may be shared with service providers only as reasonably necessary to operate the App, deliver notifications, maintain security, or comply with applicable law.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Push-notification tokens may remain in use until they expire, become invalid, or are no longer needed. Information stored locally on your device may remain until it is changed, cleared, or the App is removed.

8. Your Choices

• You may allow or disable notifications through your device settings.
• You are not required to use any external links or donation services.
• You may request information about our privacy practices by contacting us at info@stgeorgedaytona.org.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for the general church community and is not specifically directed to children. General use of the App does not require an account or the submission of personal information.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed through the App. No system or method of transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our service providers, or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
